Sacred Chain

Thank you for journeying with me through Lent and into Easter in these wee daily reflections in tandem with The Visual Commentary on Scripture.

In my reflection in church on Easter Day I referred to the notion of the “sacred chain” connecting us with God which is a feature of Paraphrase 48, The Saviour died but rose again. I suggested that just as Jesus called Mary Magdalene by name in the garden on the morning of Easter in John’s Gospel, we are commissioned to connect with one another by also calling one another by our names in a way that recognises who we are in our humanity. That connection through naming is part of the sacred chain of connection with God. As part of the reflection, I referred to the Gardner and Gardner installation Sacred Chain from 2019. You can find a description and more pictures here.

Here is a link to our rendition of the paraphrase of verses from Romans 8 that we sang.

Happy Easter!
