You can find the introductory video for this week’s Visual Commentary on Scripture here.
The Scripture theme is the wonderful passage from Ezekiel 37: 1-14, the mysterious vision of the valley of dry bones. Followers of Jesus have looked back from their experience of Jesus’ death and rising and found in the passage a foreshadowing of the Resurrection. It’s a a wonderful passage speaking into times of despair in the time of Ezekiel, and offering hope of new life and restoration.
Perhaps you might say that no visual image is necessary when given such vivid imaginative writing. So as you read the text, close your eyes and imagine the scene in your own mind’s eye whilst listening to this powerful music by Arvo Part: Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten.
